IT Forensic Specialist at IT Crime Center in Borlänge

We are now looking for an IT forensic specialist for the IT Crime Center located in Borlänge, who has a strong interest in IT development, is meticulous, and has a good ability to analyze and see connections. Police Region Bergslagen covers the counties of Dalarna, Värmland, and Örebro, with Örebro as the main city. Approximately 2200 employees work in the region. The regional investigation unit is responsible, together with the police areas, for the region's investigative activities. The regional investigation unit investigates, among other things, environmental and occupational safety crimes, certain IT crimes, fraud cases, and serious organized crime that crosses borders. The investigation unit includes, among others, the Investigation Section, Action Section Bergslagen, Forensic Section, and Regional IT Crime Center.
The Regional IT Crime Center operates in three locations in the region: Karlstad, Borlänge, and Örebro. The section is the hub for IT-related crime in Police Region Bergslagen, tasked with enhancing the regional capacity regarding all crimes involving IT elements. Within the Regional IT Crime Center, there are IT forensic groups, investigation groups working on complex cyber crimes, internet-related sexual offenses against children, and a fraud center. The section also includes the general surveillance group.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of an IT forensic specialist include assisting the investigative work with securing, processing, and presenting digital evidence. This role involves working with investigations of computers, mobile phones, and other digital storage media such as navigation equipment in cars, surveillance equipment, etc. You will also assist in searches where IT may be involved. The position includes appearing as a witness or expert in court. It may also involve participating in interrogations in the cases you work on. You should be aware that you may be exposed to material that can be perceived as offensive and unpleasant, and this is something you need to consider.
- Search, secure, process, and present digital evidence
- IT forensic analyses of extractions from e.g., computers, mobile phones, tablets, GPS, and other digital storage media
- Assist in searches where IT may be involved
- Appear in court as a witness or expert
- Be part of the police region's IT forensic preparedness
QUALIFICATIONS
This is an opportunity for you who have:
- Post-secondary education in the IT field, or alternatively, secondary education with work experience.
- Excellent IT skills in hardware and software
- Very good skills in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
- Good skills in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in English
- Driver's license B
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Post-secondary education in IT security/IT forensics
- Extensive experience handling mobile devices based on iOS and Android
- Significant experience with various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS
- Programming skills (C#, Python, etc.)
- Experience working with databases, analysis programs, and information systems
- Experience in criminal investigations and IT forensic work
- Knowledge of a language other than Swedish and English

You are meticulous, organized, and have a good ability to prioritize and see what is essential. The role of IT forensic specialist also requires you to have analytical skills and the ability to see connections.
